Nepal Earthquake Appeal

Thank You For A Superb Response To our Nepal earthquake Appeal

On Saturday 2nd May some members of the Rotary Club of Lunesdale stood outside Booths store in Kirkby Lonsdale with collection buckets appealing for donations to help send aid to the  Nepalese people. Booths Staff were pleased to be involved and there were collection boxes inside the store. It was  humbling to experience the generosity of local people and visitors and their willingness to support our appeal. Many told us that they had already made a donation on-line but they were happy to donate again. The money we raised will be sent to buy Water-Survival Boxes each containing water purification equipment enough for 10 litres of safe drinking water per person per day and will provide for a family of 5 for twelve months. The boxes also contain feeding and drinking implements, health and hygiene items, shelter and survival tools, general household basic necessities plus pencils, notepad and 3 waterproof ponchos.
The 2 delightful little "soldiers" in highly conspicuous camouflage gear are brothers Frank and Fred Atkinson! Frank is the smaller of the brothers. They enjoyed putting money in the buckets and were looking forward to a shared birthday party that afternoon as they have a birthday within a few days of each other.
This single collection raised an amazing £1,320. Readers will know that other Rotary Clubs in 1190 District are busily involved in many different ways to assist the aid programme for the victims of this huge earthquake disaster.
A heartfelt thank you from the Rotary Club of Lunesdale to all those who  supported the appeal.
