Children from Belarus

The Visit of the Children from Belarus.
On Tuesday 14th June the Club was pleased to have a visit from 16 children and 3 interpreters from Belarus for what has become an annual event. The children ages ranging from 8 to 13 years come from very disadvantaged backgrounds. The club President Elect Richard Parsons, Nigel Pullen, Duncan Hamlett and Lilian Barton greeted the children at the Kendal Climbing Wall. This proved to be a thrilling adventure and experience for the excited group of youngsters provided by the generous hospitality of Mr and Mrs Wilson. They were given clear instructions and supervision at all times. Before the happy group left the climbing wall they were each presented with a gift from Mrs Wilson. Next on the agenda was a visit to the Lunesdale Hall in Kirkby Lonsdale where a buffet lunch was served followed by a visit to the local park. Finally Richard had a brief chat with the children saying how much we had enjoyed having them and that we shall look forward to seeing them next year. He  presented each of them with a backpack filled with useful and educational gifts. Thank you to everybody who in some way contributed to give our young visitors a very happy and memorable day.
