The Plight of the Red Squirrel

On 8th September our guest speaker was Geff Hetherington who spoke about the plight of the diminishing Red Squirrel population. It was once 3.5million but now just 15,000 survive in England. Grey squirrels were introduced to this country from the US and pass on a deadly squirrel pox virus and so pose a great threat to the red squirrel population here.
